developing professional practicesin localisation globally

Hi everyone,

As you'd probably know (otherwise check www.tilponline.net), a new TILP website has been recently launched, along with a series of new and fresh training opportunities for the next few months. I'd like to think that this is very good news for anyone involved in localization, but we need to be better at communicating what we do and what TILP stands for.

As TILP philosophy is to be as transparent as possible, I would like to clarify briefly a few things and let everyone know what is really going on with TILP.

TILP is a non-for-profit association created almost a decade ago with the aim of helping localization professionals to get assistance, exclusive member advantages and above all, cost-efficient real-world training options. TILP is owned by its members, led by a council elected every year by the members at its annual general meeting, and a manager. Today, all the people who work within TILP are volunteers, be it members, presenters, council members or officers.

While it is a well-known institution, specially through its pioneer professional certification program, it was time to make some changes. For that reason, the council decided to undertake a deep renewal of its full benefits range: membership categories are being redefined, new event discounts and technology deals are being negotiated, and a full new range of both onsite and online training courses and Ask the Experts seminars have already started. Always from real-world professionals, at an affordable price and open to members and non-members alike.

We have started promoting our activities on the website, on social networks, and through other professional forums. However, we still need your help. We need you to help us bringing new ideas, telling us about your needs, becoming a member (if you are not yet), joining us at LinkedIn or FaceBook, spreading the word (we are on Twitter, too) and, if you like, getting involved.

Looking forward to hearing from you,
Jose
